Pre-K Yoga One of the important elements of Pre-K at the Infants School in Lewisham is our movement programme. We love to sing, dance and exercise as part of our physical, cognitive and creative development. This term, we have been learning how to do some Yoga. Yoga helps us to develop good posture, flexibility and strength, while teaching us to focus and concentrate. Our favourite poses are Candle, Lion and Tiger, and we are proud of how well we can do them. We are waiting patiently to learn ‘Hero’ and ‘Shark’ as these poses look especially fun! We also participate in ‘yoga stories’ which are creative ways for us to practise our poses. Our favourite is ‘Jungle Walk’ where we warriors meeting lions, snakes, and even a crocodile! Sasha Cuthbert LEWISHAM BOOK READING YEAR 6 JUNIOR SCHOOL In response to the Year 6 PYP investigation into ‘Our Changing Earth’, the boys wrote and illustrated a picture book, specifically designed to teach Earth facts to young children. The effectiveness of the themed books was to be tested in the hardest arena known to new authors, the Infants’ Campus. On Friday 11th April, Year 6 travelled to Lewisham to share their books with the Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 boys. After class introductions, the boys battled through nerves to sit down with their eager audience and share their enthusiasm and hard work. The boys rotated through the classrooms, sharing their interest and knowledge with the eager audience. The boys successfully imparted knowledge with confidence and a genuine interest in their target audience. The experience concluded with a shared morning tea, where the general discussions revolved around their favourite books.
