Trinity News : November 2011
Just as he did in 2010, Benjamin On competed in the Level 5 Men’s Competition at the IPSHA Gymnastics in Term 4. Though boys from only four schools competed, the standard was very high. Boys at this level are very dedicated to the sport, with Ben training at the high performance centre at Homebush NSWIS for up to 24 hours a week. The boys only competed in floor and vault, with Ben being the overall winner, with a score that included a perfect 10 in the vault with a bonus 0.5 for a higher level of difficulty vault! Ben is now preparing for the Level 6 routines with the intention of qualifying for the Nationals in May 2012. Benjamin On represented the School in diving in 2011. In his first year of diving, he progressed through to represent NSW at the National Diving Competition where he placed 3rd. While there is obviously some cross-over between Diving and Gymnastics training, it is still particularly impressive, seeing that Ben is only able to train once a week before school on a Friday due to his gymnastics training commitments. above & left: Benjamin On in action middle Benjamin with his medal is at right REPRESENTATIVEREPRESENTATIVE DIVING GYMNASTICS 20 TRINITY NEWS
