Trinity News : November 2011
TRINITY NEWS 13 CADET DINING IN NIGHT 2011 From Mud to Mess | Well, from mud to Mess Dress actually! Such is the cadet CUO’s experience. A large part of his cadet activity often takes place amid wet and muddy conditions in boots and camouflage gear as he experiences bivouacs and Annual Field Training activities, but he also is able to experience the elegance and formality of a Dining In night, with suave white mess jacket and gleaming embellishments! The CUOs, Staff, parents and friends had pre-dinner drinks on the Quadrangle before partaking of an excellent meal in the Dining Hall. Guest of Honour was Mr David Sabben MG, a Trinity Old Boy (Class of ‘62) and veteran of the Battle of Long Tan as Platoon Commander of 12 Platoon, Delta Company. President of the Mess was SUO Benjamin Seeto (12WJ) and toasts were given by CUO Douglas Ritchie (12Ar – the Loyal Toast); CUO Anthony Jones (12Fo – to the School); CUO Nicholas Mae (12Ho – to the Army) and to the Parents (CUO Adam Van Der Leeden – 12Ta). The Officer Commanding, Major (AAC) Timothy Barden, presented the Valedictory Toast in which he praised the CUOs, who, despite sometimes disheartening conditions of weather and curtailing of various activities, showed exemplary dedication during their five year service to the Unit. | Ron Ogier
