Trinity News : November 2011
12 TRINITY NEWS Friday August 19 saw Jupiter Pluvius in a nasty mood, so much so that the decision was made to hold the Annual Cadet Ceremonial Parade in the Gymnasium. Although the grander spectacle of the traditional parade on the Number One Oval was lost, and with it much of the associated drill, there was a greater intimacy within the Gym between the Cadets and the spectators. Perhaps the best thing of the occasion, mentioned by many of the parents afterwards, was the magnificently uniform thud of several hundred Army boots on the gymnasium floor, a feature which is often lost in the outdoors! The Guest of Honour was Old Boy Air Commodore Mark Lax (Ret.), who after inspecting the Parade and presenting the Prizes, spoke to the assembly. One part of the ceremony which gained emotional force by the intimacy of the venue was the march past of the departing Year 12 CUOs to the playing by the Band of the ever-nostalgic tune Auld Lang Syne. All the lads, the CSMs, the RSM , the Company Commanders and NCOs all deserve congratulations for a most successful Parade which was, after all, a most satisfying conclusion to the Cadet year. | Ron Ogier
