Trinity News : April 2011
TRINITY NEWS 21 Over 98 years we have had many Boarders from rural NSW. This tradition continues with our current country boys from the Central West, Southern Tablelands and South Western NSW. From Wagga Wagga Sam Raves in Year 8 is our newest country boarder, drawn to Trinity due to his talent for swimming. Sam says “the best thing about Trinity is the greater opportunities here.” Since his arrival he has qualified for the National Age Swimming Championships. Gerard Holland in Year 11 is another new country boy, from a farm near Greenethorpe, near Young. Gerard loves being at Trinity where he can improve his Athletics and Rugby and pursue his passion for Drama. Also in Year 11 is Daryen Hazell from Forbes. He loves his Rugby and last year made the 1st XV whilst still in Year 10! He really enjoys being a Boarder but admits that he does miss his family. Another outstanding swimmer, Angus Parsons, Year 10 from Orange believes that leaving his family back in Orange to attend Trinity is worthwhile. From Goulburn William McNamara, Year 12, is our House Captain and a School Prefect. He loves it here, being involved with various music groups, and representing the School at National Age Swimming and Athletic Championships. He is also doing the International Baccalaureate. Something we really enjoy about Boarding at Trinity, other than unlimited access to the School’s awesome facilities, is the spirit of mateship in the Boarding House. I have got to know so many different boys from many parts of Australia and the World. If I hadn’t been a Boarder I most likely would never have met them, so being a Country Boarder here has certainly been worthwhile! | Matthew Treloar (Year 11 Boarder from Wagga Wagga) top: Dinner Time - l -r: “Mamma” Antonia, Matthew Treloar, William McNamara, Daryen Hazell, Angus Parsons, Gerard Holland and Sam Raves above: Boarders who were members of the victorious CAS Swimming Team with their Coaches: l-r: Anson Lai (Hong Kong), Mr Colman Wong (Coach), Sam Raves (Wagga Wagga), Ryan Miller (London), William McNamara (Goulburn), Thomas Galluzzo (Sydney), Angus Parsons (Orange), Matthew Treloar (Wagga Wagga), Nicholas Hutt (Perth, WA), Cedric Chan (Hong Kong), Nathan Miller (Captain of Swimming) (London), Mr James Martin (Manager), Mr Matthew Brown (Coach), Kurt Abbott (Diver) (Ti Tree, NT) boys from the bush
