Trinity News : July 2010
hospitality hopefuls! Eye of newt and toe of frog, Wool of bat and tongue of dog; Adder's fork and blind worm's sting, Lizard's leg and ...OOOPS! Wrong recipe! These gruesome ingredients from Macbeth’s bewitching friends certainly were nowhere in evidence when Mrs Heather Bootle’s Year 11 Hospitality Course students underwent their practical training during October last at the Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL Club. Under the guidance of supervisors Mr James Lewis and Ms Dianne Stranger, the lads experienced all aspects of preparing and serving a dinner, taking turns at table setting, preparation, plating up the food, waiting on tables, washing up, and resetting the tables. Their course culminated in the serving to parents and friends and the general public a lunch and a three course dinner. The Club instructors spoke highly of the boys’ efforts, and each lad was presented with a certifcate of achievement. For those who were the diners, it was a pleasant experience, for the young men carried out their responsibilities in a most gratifying way.
