Trinity News : July 2010
10 TRINITY NEWS TEEP Initiative at TGS The Practical Approach to Learning Trinity Grammar School has pioneered the delivery of VET subjects in the Trinity Enterprise Education Programme (TEEP). TEEP provides skills and knowledge for work, enhances employability and assists learning throughout life. The programme will help our boys by making their transition into the workplace much easier. It is an instructional course encouraging our students to develop life- long critical thinking and problem solving skills. By carefully targeting VET in schools we help our boys to develop industry-recognised skills and to engage in meaningful practical education while studying at school. Much of the education in VET is hands-on training built into the TEEP course structure, providing the vocational training which links education and the working world, and giving better job prospects by developing practical work- related skills that will make students more employable. VET courses offered by the School are in building/construction, hospitality, electro-technology and entertainment. Our VET courses promote meta-cognition and self-regulated learning and hands-on training linking education and the working world. Our TEEP package is a kick-start for our boys with a fair for practical learning, giving them industry- recognised skills and newfound confdence. By providing a congruency between school and work TEEP prepares them for professional work. I call it a stepping stone to the real world.
