Trinity News : November 2008
ALUMNI ATHLETICS CLUB | 20 YEAR FUNCTION On Thursday 24 July a group of Old Boys, Parents and Coaches gathered in the Terrace Room to celebrate 20 years of the Trinity Athletics Club. It is hoped that this will become an annual event. A letter from Clive Lee (a past CEO of AAA of NSW - now Athletics NSW) now living in Tasmania was received, congratulating the Club and especially Mr Steve Collins its founder. Special thanks to Mrs Evelyn Wise, Ms Lauren Rose and Mr Stephen Heanly for organising the evening. Also to Mr Ron Ogier (photography) and Mr Sel King (the jazz musician). Mr Steve Collins (90-94), Mr Michael Spratt (95-01), Mr Andrew Murphy (07-Present), Mr Jason Cheers (04-06) and Mr Paul Stenhouse (02-03) right: Part of the gathering spanning twenty years ECONOMIC MOTIVATION On June 13th three students from the Class of 1987 came to motivate the current Year 12 Economic students. Tim Dixon was placed 1st in the State in 1987 and equal 2nd were Kris Bruckner and Garth Paton. These outstanding Old Boys have done exceptionally well, with Kris being the principal of a highly successful business consultancy, with client companies such as BHP Billiton. Garth Paton is an entrepreneur in his own right and, despite his reflections of being in agriculture, he is in the process of buying businesses for himself, improving the state of those businesses and then on-selling them. Tim Dixon is the Chief Economic Adviser and Speech Writer for the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd. Tim brought a video of his last days in Economics and we reflected on the situation that the Stock Market was crashing then and that this could be an omen for 2008. The students were inspired and motivated and I would like to personally thank Kris, Tim and Garth for giving up their time and for their personal friendship shown to myself.
