Trinity News : November 2008
80 TH CAS TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS The 80th CAS Track and Field Championships proved to be a closely contested competition. The excitement during the day was building with the Trinitarian supporters leading the cheering to encourage our boys across the finish line (or to jump or throw further). Trinity held a slight lead throughout the day and with only 10 points separating Knox and Trinity coming into the relays, the athletes and the crowd could sense it was going to be a nail-biting finish. And oh how close it was – just 8.5 points separated eventual winners Knox to Trinity and Waverley close behind in 3rd place. There were so many inspirational team performances on the day; it is difficult to highlight just one! Every single team member rose to the occasion and the number of personal best performances and School records were truly amazing. For the fortunate Trinity supporters who witnessed it, they knew something special had happened. Trinity’s new breed of athletes are believing in themselves and what they can achieve in the future – look out 2009!!! | Andrew Murphy MIC Track & Field 633.5 Points Knox Grammar School 625 Points Trinity Grammar School 617.5 Points Waverley College 576 Points Barker College 574.5 Points Cranbrook School 485.5 Points St Aloysius’ College 1 Matthew Lee (10Sc) 2 Mitchell King (11Ke) 3 William McNamara (9Sc) 4 Robert Lister (10He) 5 Matthew Wise (12Ar) 6 Jack Edwards (8 St) 7 Vasili Doukakis (11Hi) 8 Andrew Vernon (10WJ) 9 Thomas Clark-Otton (12Ta) 10 Jackson Alexander (10Sc) 11 Trinity Track & Field Team Supporters 1 2 3 18 TRINITY NEWS 4 5
