Trinity News : November 2008
because of the dreadful weather, the Parade was a fitting finale to the Cadet year. The standard of drill was very high, and the demeanour of the Cadets was excellent. With stirring music from the Band stationed in the breezeway on Jubilee Drive, the Unit marched onto the Oval, followed by the Flag Party bearing the Australian and Cadet Unit flags. The Officer Commanding MAJ (AAC) Timothy Barden and the Sponsor of the Unit Head Master Mr Milton Cujes, received onto the Parade the Reviewing Officer, BRIG David Saul, who inspected the Unit, and then presented the annual Awards. Following his introduction by the Head Master, the Brigadier commended the Cadets on their stamina in the face the weather, and reminding them of the lifelong value of the experiences that Cadets gives them. Then in what, has always been a poignant moment, a rite of passage, almost, the Year 12 Cadets marched in slow time past their fellows, to the strains of Auld Lang Syne, that tune so evocative of the nostalgic sadness of farewell. We thank the Year 12 Cadet Under Officers of 2008 for the excellent service they have given through their years to Trinity’s Cadet Unit. We wish them well in their years after School. Our indebtedness extends also to MAJ (AAC) Timothy Barden, and his Officers, who once again inspired the Cadets to rise above difficult circumstances to provide us with what arguably was the best Parade we have had for many years. | Ron Ogier 7 6 1 SUO (ACC) Alexander Clunies-Ross (12Hi) receives the Sword of Honour 2 CUO (ACC) Thomas Clark-Otton (12Ta) was awarded the Joseph Sword 3 Straight to the Point!
